Automatic Retractable Tire Spike Barrier & Vehicle Tire Shredding System for Security Checkpoints | Global GRAB CATSCLAW

SKU: CATSCLAW
Vendor: Global GRAB

Industrial-Grade Tire Shredding for Security Checkpoints

Airports and border checkpoints need vehicle security equipment that can accommodate everyday traffic while supporting a rapid response to unauthorized entry. The Global GRAB CATSCLAW Tire Shredding System uses electrically deployed, retractable blades to damage vehicle tires and impair mobility at controlled access points.

Built for demanding roadway applications, CATSCLAW offers an industrial-grade alternative to conventional spring-loaded tire spikes. Its retractable design allows the blades to remain lowered for authorized traffic and deploy when required by the checkpoint’s operating procedures.

Retractable Blades. Controlled Deployment.

When activated, the claws pivot out of the roadway into the tire-shredding position. This action damages tires to reduce traction and impair the vehicle’s ability to continue through the access point.

  • Electric operation: Deploys the blades without relying on spring-loaded mechanisms.
  • Retractable design: Lowers the blades to permit authorized vehicle passage.
  • Commercial-grade construction: Designed for demanding checkpoint environments and repeated roadway traffic.
  • Directional options: Available with single-direction or bidirectional blade configurations.
  • Layered security: Can operate independently or supplement another vehicle barrier.

Built for Demanding Vehicle Traffic

Repeated heavy freight traffic can be hard on conventional spring-loaded tire-spike equipment. CATSCLAW’s industrial-grade design makes it an option for checkpoints where trucks and other vehicles routinely cross the installation.

Select the system around the actual traffic mix and operating requirements. Vehicle direction, authorized crossing procedures and the response to a security event should all be addressed during checkpoint planning.

Add a Tire-Shredding Layer to Vehicle Security

CATSCLAW can be incorporated into a coordinated barrier arrangement. In the GRAB 350 system, it operates ahead of the net barrier: the claws damage the tires while the net provides the vehicle-arresting function.

Checkpoint planning can also include overspeed and wrong-direction detection to alert personnel to a vehicle requiring attention. Detection, operator response and barrier deployment must be coordinated for the selected system.

Tire Shredding Is Different from Crash Arrest

CATSCLAW impairs vehicle mobility by damaging tires. It should not be represented as an M50-certified crash barrier or as a guarantee of an immediate stop. Where physical vehicle arrest is required, specify an appropriate barrier as part of the overall security design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the blades retract for authorized traffic?

Yes. The blades lower for authorized passage and deploy electrically when required. Operation should follow the approved checkpoint control sequence.

Does CATSCLAW use spring-loaded spikes?

No. Its electric mechanism does not rely on springs to operate the blades.

Can it be used with another vehicle barrier?

Yes. It can supplement a separate barrier, including the net-barrier arrangement used in GRAB 350. The combined system’s functions and controls should be specified together.

Will tire shredding immediately stop a vehicle?

Tire damage can impair traction and mobility, but it does not guarantee an immediate stop. CATSCLAW’s function differs from a crash barrier designed to physically arrest a vehicle.

Is a portable CATSCLAW version available?

The manufacturer offers a separate Tactical Mobile version for low-volume traffic applications. Confirm the required installation type when requesting a quote; this description covers the in-ground system.
