The Q-Cord Museum Barrier with Removable Floor Socket provides a clean, architectural barrier system for museums, galleries, exhibits, cultural institutions, and other design-sensitive environments where the barrier posts may need to be completely removed from time to time.
The stainless steel floor socket is permanently installed into the floor, while the Q-Cord post can be inserted or removed as needed. This provides the clean appearance and small footprint of a fixed installation without permanently leaving the stanchion in place.
Permanent Floor Socket, Removable Barrier Post
Unlike a traditional weighted-base stanchion, the Q-Cord socket-mounted system does not require a large base on the floor.
The receiver is recessed into the floor, and the barrier post fits directly into the socket. When the barrier is needed, simply install the post into the receiver. When the area needs to be opened, the post can be removed while the socket remains permanently installed.
Ideal for Flexible Museum Spaces:
This mounting option is especially useful for galleries, event spaces, exhibit halls, and multipurpose areas where barriers are required regularly but the floor may occasionally need to be completely open.
Optional Floor Socket Cap
When the Q-Cord post is removed, an optional stainless steel cap is available to cover the unused floor socket and provide a cleaner finished appearance.

7 Feet of Retractable Cord
Each Q-Cord post provides up to 7 feet of retractable cord, allowing the barriers to be spaced efficiently while maintaining a clean and unobtrusive visitor boundary.
The 39" double-cord configuration includes an upper cord for pedestrian control and a lower cord positioned approximately 19.75" above the floor for cane detectability and ADA-conscious barrier layouts.

Floor Socket Installation
The floor receiver is designed to be recessed into a concrete or masonry floor and secured with epoxy.
- Determine and mark the final position of each barrier post before drilling.
- Bore an opening approximately 2-1/4" wide and 3-1/4" deep for the floor receiver.
- Test-fit the socket and shim as needed so the receiver is level.
- Apply an appropriate epoxy resin around the bottom and sides of the opening.
- Insert and bed the socket into the epoxy.
- Make sure the receiver is perfectly level and flush with the finished floor.
- Allow the epoxy to fully cure before placing the barrier post into service.
Important Installation Note:
Proper alignment of the socket is critical. The receiver should be installed perfectly level so the Q-Cord post remains vertical after installation. Installation method and epoxy selection should be appropriate for the flooring material and site conditions.
